Vita Student Announces Public Consultation For First Cardiff Scheme

Vita Student, the award winning student accommodation brand has announced its initial plans for a new student accommodation development at the former legal offices located at Bradley Court on Park Place in Cardiff city centre after buying the site in January.

The new residence would feature 374 high quality apartments, as well as amenity spaces such as a movie and games room, gym, private dining room and study spaces for residents to enjoy. The scheme, which includes significant improvements to public spaces, will rejuvenate this prominent area of Cardiff, opposite the New Theatre.

The plans also include space for a new restaurant and bar for the city, The Laundrette, which is already popular with locals in two locations of Manchester, with a Newcastle edition opening in the late summer.

Showcasing the initial proposals in pre-application consultation documents, the development will provide significant improvements to the areas surrounding the site and around the “Dock Feeder” by the New Theatre, which is something the company is keen to receive feedback on. Vita Student is undertaking a period of meaningful public consultation to help inform the final planning application which will be submitted to Cardiff Council later this year for a decision.

“We have held initial discussions with the Local Authority and now want to find out what residents and other interested groups have to say about the redevelopment of this vacant brownfield site. We’re keen to involve the community in our scheme and are particularly interested to know what local residents and stakeholders think of our proposals to enhance the public realm on our site and along the Dock Feeder by the New Theatre.”

A 28 day public consultation period is running from 25th April to 23rd May 2017 during which time information will be available to view online, and comments can be provided to the developer to take into consideration prior to the submission of a planning application.
